I am the first to say that Mary Morgan's, Order of the Dragon Knights Series is steeped in legend, has grand sweeping landscapes and epic lovestories.. It is a fantastic series that combines some of Scotland's known legends with sheer fantasy. It has time travel and Druids, Dashing Heroes in need of redemption and strong Heroines willing to believe in the impossible.

The first two books Dragon Kinght's Sword and Dragon Knight's Medallion are beyond spectacular but book three, Dragon Knight's Axe was a bit of a miss. Don't get me wrong it was a very good book but it lacked the power of mythos.

The legend continues and this time it's Alastair MacKay who is destined to find redemption in the arms of his destined mate, a woman from the future. Only this time there's a twist.. no I'm not telling you *grins*

Fiona O’Quinlan is a modern woman with her head in the past. Translating ancient texts is her greatest pleasure and she often gets lost in the wonder of it all. When a "friend and co-worker" steals her work and claims she hasn't done a thing, Fiona is tossed from her latest assignment and at a bit of a loss of what to do. Fortunately a temporary position on another dig came up and from there Fiona is literally transported to the past. Right into a slave auction. Only to be saved by a big "beast" of a man and feeling like she's gone from the fire to pan..

Alastair MacKay has turned his life on his family and heritage. He's convinced that he has nothing to offer mankind and his legacy is nothing but a lost dream. He's a man of the earth but to further punish himself he forces himself to make his life at sea. When on land he's there for the shortest period possible. But one such stop changes the course of his life.

Alastair is never quite sure of why he saved Fiona from the slave mart, he just knew he had to. He tried to turn away from her but there was something constantly pulling at him. And when he tried to return her to her family both of them were in for the surprise of a lifetime, or two!

Watching Alastair and Fiona run as fast as they can away from each other only to keep finding the other in the same place was rather fun. While this was an emotional push and pull I wanted more Druids and Dragons.. And I am thinking I am being a bit rough because as I write this review I realize that there was so much going on behind the scenes. That the Druid dynamics are much subtler I have to rethink my initial claim on this book. It isn't as action packed as the first two, it's subtler, it's sneakier. And yet the relationship between Alastair and Fiona was strong and true.

I loved that while Fiona fit perfectly in the past, she was always a modern woman with a mind of her own and Alastair had to prove himself to her not the other way around.

Dragon Knight Axe Order of the Dragon Knights Book 3 edition by Mary Morgan Romance eBooks Reviews

I know I have had this book by Ms. Mary Morgan for a while but with the newest book out and me having read the two previous books in the dragon knight’s series I was curious. Finally I think my curiosity got the best of me because I think what prevented me from reading this book was a small fear that I wasn’t going to enjoy this book as much as the other two books in the series. So the book sat in my kindle library for some time collecting dust. Plus, I’m pretty silly because the last book had one of my favorite brothers and book boyfriends in it Stephan MacKay and I wasn’t ready to leave his story as of yet. Now I’m not saying that Ms. Morgan can’t write a fascinating tale of dragons which are one of my most favorite things to read about and big brawny handsome highlanders with beautiful strong independent women her stories are not only a book lover’s dream but a perfect historical Scottish paranormal romance to enjoy.
Alastair MacKay a hardened famed dragon knight forsakes his power and his heritage after the death of his much beloved sister escapes all and the memories for the high seas. Alastair ports in Ireland to sell his wares but comes upon a slave trader and the beautiful Fiona O’Quinlan. Alastair recognizes the Fiona’s clan and decides to buy her to bring her back to her brothers. While on the journey danger awaits them at every turn and the most dangerous of the ventures for both Fiona and Alastair is love but it could also cost them their very lives.
I think why I waited so long to read and finish reading this story was because of the hero Alastair he was gruff, very aloof, and churlish at first. He just seemed so cantankerous especially regarding his actions towards Fiona through most of the book that he wasn’t winning any points with me. A lot of the time I was pleading with him to be a bit nicer because I wanted a hero I could fall for besides just a handsome face I wanted him to prove to me that he was truly a wonderful guy not be mean to the heroine. As the book progressed I started to like him a little bit and was beginning to understand why he was the way he was. I think Meggie’s death affected him more than any of the other brothers. Plus I was thankful that Ms. Morgan did bring my favorite brother Stephan back so it was well worth the read just to read more of Stephan as well. Fiona was just such an awesome heroine that I just loved her from the get go! She was brave, plucky, independent and feisty I seriously just loved her and her interactions with all her brothers. I do hope Ms. Morgan writes Desmond and Patrick there is definitely more to him than meets the eye. Even though I don’t think I should have waited to read the book quite as long as I did and despite my silly reservations I rated the book four stars. I will most likely read it again, can recommend it and will definitely get more books from Ms. Morgan!
Dragon Knight's Axe the 3rd book in the Order of the Dragon Knights series was really good for me til this one part made me mad causing me to drop my rating from a 4 star to a 3.5 star. Book 3 is Fiona and Alastair Mackay's story. Alastair is a darker hero than the previous two. I really liked Alastair and his beastly ways. I did however get really upset over some crap he pulled and it made me drop the rating. Fiona was really sassy and I liked that. Fiona and Alastair had plenty of heat but he fought his feelings for a while. I loved Fiona's brothers and loved getting to catch up with the two couples from the past books. I love the time traveling theme so much. I really enjoyed this book for the most part and I still really love this series.
